According to Morgunbladid, a large Icelandic news source, the application for Icelandic membership to the European Union has been sent today and already received by Stockholm. The ambassador of Iceland in Stockholm today presented the application in a meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Sweden this year holds the European Union chair and will push for Iceland’s membership application as a priority.
